Ciara steps out at the Met Gala in emerald green cut-out gown complete with a large Afro wig

She was sure kept with the evening's theme when she made her grand entrance.

Ciara made sure all eyes were on her on Monday as she stepped out at the Met Gala in New York.

The 33-year-old wore a peacock-inspired gown and a large Afro wig.

Ciara was styled in a Peter Dundas original.

The beaded gown featured cut-outs around the waist. The side of her green dress featured a high slit and a lace-up edge.

Peacock-like feathers were added to the bottom of the gown for dramatic effect. The mother-of-two topped off her look with beaded sleeves and green ankle strap heels.

Ciara's smokey, emerald green make-up was applied by artist Yolonda Frederick, using Pat McGrath products.

The star's standout Afro was done by wig maker Cesar Ramirez.

Her hair was pulled back to apply the headpiece, which was adorned by sparkly appliques.

The evening was a mother's night out for Ciara, who is a mom to daughter Future Wilburn, four, and daughter Sienna Wilson, two.

Ciara began dating now-husband Russell in 2015. They married in March 2016 and welcomed Sienna in April 2017.

Meanwhile, the songstress shares son Future with her ex-boyfriend, rapper Future, 35.

The Met Gala, formally known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is always chaired by a team of high-wattage celebrities, and this year is no exception.

The event is chaired by pop star and actress-of-the-moment Lady Gaga, tennis star Serena Williams, and singer Harry Styles, along with Gucci designer Alessandro Michele and, as always, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Anna Wintour said she believes this year's Met Gala to be about 'self-expression' and 'individuality', noting that she wanted to see 'outrageous, fun, tongue in cheek' fashion on the red carpet.
